All groups of people periodically need to “take a counting.” Your household recently received the government census form by mail for this purpose. This is also the time of year that we ask members of Ascension to assist in being counted….Ascensus 2010!

What is Ascensus 2010? Ascensus 2010 is the opportunity of providing personal indication of time and talent that can be offered in functions and activities of the church. Additionally it is a time to gather other personal information for the church's records.

Why am I asked to provide the time and talent information? The ability of Ascension to plan and undertake its ministry priorities, as well as other mission work, is directly correlated to the time and efforts we willingly bring in this service. The church's own internal support needs also continue to increase as we grow as a congregation. It is important that we each take a personal census of abilities and interests we can offer in support of the Lord's work. The information received is compiled in a data base to allow subsequent requests to be made to individuals for specific functions, and eliminates the need for an alternative sign up sheet method for many areas.

What do I need to do? Click here for the Ascensus 2010 form. Hard copy forms are also be available in the narthex. It will be very important to fill in both current activities that you plan to continue in (i.e., usher, Sunday school teacher, choir member) as well as any new, because we start with a clean slate each year in the data base.

Who needs to do this? All confirmed members, utilizing an individual form.

When do I need to do this by? May 23, at which time a thank-you and dedication will be conducted during services. This is an exciting time at Ascension as we plan our building expansion. Corresponding to the recent indications of financial stewardship, we look to collectively expand the stewardship offerings of our time and talents.
