Thanks for stopping by to see what's happening at Ascension.  We invite you to stop back often.  We'll be updating information as it becomes available.

We’re still here!  Although we may not be physically in our offices, we all are checking e-mails and voicemails on a regular basis.

IF YOU NEED ANYTHING, please don’t hesitate to call or email Pastor Lori or Susie Brekke, Member Connections.  We have a list of folks who have volunteered to drop of supplies to any member who has a need.  These folks want to help!

IMPORTANT: There is so much happening at Ascension this fall, we couldn't fit it all on our announcement page.  Please be sure to read our November Tidings newsletter for all the details!!

THANKSGIVING WORSHIP DEVOTIONAL - Available Afternoon of 11/25
We invite you to join Pastor Lori and Pastor Luther for our Thanksgiving Worship Devotional, "Feasting on Giving Thanks."  The Thanksgiving Worship Devotional will be posted on our website and Vimeo channel the afternoon of Thanksgiving Eve (11/25) and will be available for you and your family at any time on Thanksgiving.  In keeping with tradition, you are encouraged to prepare your favorite kind of pie so that once the worship devotional is over, you can enjoy a great piece of pie and give thanks for your church family.  Thanks be to God!

Giving Tree
The Giving Tree provides the Ascension congregation with the opportunity to pull together and meet the needs of others served by Freedom House, St. John’s Shelter and Home Sweet Home. This year the need is so great, and we’re going virtual to meet that need!  On the virtual Giving Tree below you will find items of need.  Select one or multiple items, purchase and bring to church in one of three ways listed below – no need to wrap. What if someone else selected that same item? No problem! There’s no limit to these items of great need. CLICK HERE for a list of items to donate.

Due Date: December 15

Drop-Off Options: details regarding times will be coming in the weekly email, or simply call the church.

  • December 6 – drive-up communion
  • December 8 – evening drop-off
  • By appointment – during church business hours
  • By mail – select an item such as a gift card on the list and mail it to church for a hands-free option

Please consider participating in this ministry opportunity, and be a light to the people served by these organizations this holiday season.

Adopt a Family
Ascension is again partnering with Head Start to adopt 15 families in our community who need a little help.  CLICK HERE  for information on families that are available to adopt.  Once you’ve decided on a family, contact Wendy Gilley to see if it is still available and will be given more information about requested items.

“Love Your Neighbor Learning and Growing Together”
An Ascension Adult Education Series
Wednesday, December 2 at 7:00 pm
Guest Speaker: Matthew Soerens, US Director of Church Mobilization for World Relief

Part of the Christmas story is how Jesus Himself, not too long after He was born, became a refugee for a time, along with His family.  Evil King Herod, after hearing from the Magi that a new king had been born, came looking to find and kill this challenger to his throne.  God warned Joseph in a dream, and the family escaped as refugees to live in Egypt for a few years. On December 2, we are so pleased to have with us, Matthew Soerens, an expert in the plight of refugees today.

Matthew Soerens specializes in helping Christian churches to understand the realities of refugees and immigration and to respond in ways guided by biblical values.  He also serves as the National Coordinator for the Evangelical Immigration Table.  His current book is “Welcoming the Stranger.”  For more information concerning the series contact: Deb Anderson,; Susie Brekke,; or Dan and Barb Stoll,
