BOOKKEEPER
We are excited to announce that we have begun our search for a part-time Bookkeeper at Ascension. People applying for this position should have 3 years of experience performing all bookkeeping responsibilities for an organization. Experience in QuickBooks and Excel is essential.

Position Purpose: 
The purpose of the position is to serve the healthy functioning of the congregation, its mission, and its ministries through the tasks of bookkeeping.

Some of the position responsibilities include:

  • Process invoices, prepare checks, post deposits using QuickBooks.
  • Enter offering data into the database.
  • Send payroll information to the payroll service.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports using QuickBooks and Excel including Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Statements and Fund Accounts.
  • Maintain Youth Fundraising Account.
  • Prepare quarterly member giving statements.
  • Prepare and maintain annual budget planning documents.
  • Prepare and submit annual 1099s to independent contractors.
  • Assist in the development of financial policies and procedures.
  • Attend Finance Mission Team meetings. (typically, 5-6 times a year in the evening)  
  • Attend daytime staff meetings as required (typically weekly).  

The part-time Bookkeeper is a 12-hour per week position. Hours are flexible but will be mostly daytime, with an occasion evening for meetings. Hours per week will vary depending on the time of month and year. A full job description is available below.
