CHILDREN'S MINISTRY DIRECTOR

We are excited to announce that we have begun our search for a part-time Children's Ministry Director at Ascension. 

The primary purpose of this position is to: 

Direct and lead the Children’s Ministry of Ascension Lutheran Church, and to do so according to the vision and mission of the congregation, the teachings of the Lutheran Church, working together with the Children’s Ministry Mission Team, and under the supervision of the Lead Pastor. This ministry shall seek to support the children of the congregation as they grow in their faith in Jesus Christ through a strong educational program involving students, parents, teachers, and church leaders. In addition, this ministry aims to deepen the students and parents’ commitment and integration into the life, ministry, and mission of the whole congregation.

Some of the position responsibilities include:

  • Work in collaboration with the Children’s Ministry Mission Team, as well as other staff positions and mission teams working in the overarching area of family ministry, to develop, implement, and continuously improve the Children’s Ministries of this congregation according to the above purpose statement.
  • Is present at Ascension on Sunday mornings to oversee, lead and direct the Sunday School Ministry Program, fostering an environment in which personal Christian faith growth is happening for all who are involved.
  • Work in collaboration with the appropriate staff and mission teams to provide for additional elements/programs for children (Birth – 5th grade) and their families. These elements/programs currently include Vacation Bible School, First Communion Instruction, Children’s Christmas Program and Milestone Ministry events.
  • Develop additional events/activities for children and their families.
     

The Children’s Ministry Director opening is a part-time, 14-hour per week position. Weekly time required varies with the needs of the Children's Ministry year, more time is required at certain portions of the church year and less at others. A full job description is available below.
